You'd think that the authorities got their stuff together when they brought automated speeds cameras into play. The money these machines generate for the governments are out of this world. So with the millions they have spent designing these machines, why aren't they working the way they should? In Liverpool, UK, a speed camera clocked a Fiat Punto at 37 mph in a 30 mph zone. So far, nothing special, except that the Fiat WAS PARKED! (see photo). When the person received the fine, she was confused, and asked for the photographic proof. Initially the authorities did not want to send it, but a court ruled that they had to. The authorities had all the reasons not to show the photo; it was clear that the car was parked! The same happened in France, where a car was parked close to a speed camera, and the owner received 3 speeding tickets. The photos clearly show that the car was parked, and no one behind the wheel. Authorities in all countries do not think their cameras are to blame, and according to them are flawless. To get out of the erroneous flaws, you need to write letters, and often end up in court. Something very wrong in a system that has flaws, and when the authorities insist that there aren't any. Next thing we'll see is a speed ticket of my motorcycle parked in my garage. Time for them to start re-thinking their speed camera technology.... Click here for more info
