It looks to me that for every successfully funded crowd-funding project, there are some 10 that didn't make it. Some of those 10 just about made it, but some failed miserably. Here is one project that belongs in the latter category.

Although a noble idea, the execution and delivery was not the way to attract attention no matter the subject. The SensoPod project involves placing a "pod" on your helmet. The pod is a sensor box that sends "pings" like a radar. Depending on the speed the ping returns, the box can then calculate how far the object is, again very much like a radar.

What this means is that the SensoPod is a safety device that can "see" how far another vehicles are from you, and if they are too close, warn you that you are about to crash. Nice idea...

The pod can be fixed on a helmet using suction cups, and then have some LED lights installed inside your helmet that shows when you are in a danger zone.

Somehow they also plan to be able to install the pod on your motorcycle, but I can't see how that will work since it can not look in front of you.

So the only way I can describe it, is a pie-in-the-sky project, without trying to be insulting to the creator of the SensoPod (you better try then not do anything.. right?).

But then he produces a video explaining the project, which is the most important sales tool he has. In the video, the guy is sitting below a poster of Ron Paul for the 2008 elections. In one fast swoop he as alienated a lot of potential customers by flying his own political colors.

Then the video goes on and on focusing on the helmet while he is riding. No explanation, just music. After you wake up, there finally is some explanation. You can see the video at the bottom of this article.

He was looking for US$10,000 to start the project (which IMHO is way to low to properly do a project involving electronics, programming, and hardware production); he got US$375.

So unfortunately for him this is one project that is scrapped. Back to the drawing board.
