Here's a great idea that the motorcycle helmet manufacturers should have been doing years ago. Most proper helmets come with a carry bag, a thin cloth in which you can store your helmet. Practical, and it keeps your helmet clean.
A company (somewhere in the world, I could not trace the manufacturer) is making a very simple safety solution. Instead of using the standard carry bag the helmet manufacturer supplies, this company proposes their own. But instead of a (usually) black bag, this one is reflective white and has a warning/ emergency/ break down triangle on it. If you break down somewhere, or if there has been an accident, all you need to do is take off your helmet, put the bag over it, and put it on the ground, warning other vehicles that something is up and to slow down. Very simple and effective solution. In some countries (like Austria), all vehicles, including motorcycles, are required to have a warning triangle with them at all times. This is an ideal solution.
Prices around the net vary. Do a Google search for "Emergency Helmet Triangle" or "Warning Triangle Helmet". Count about UK£8.0 or €10.00
An alternative is to use a premade and folded triangle that uses your helmet as support. Called Bike Sight from Pro-tect Safety Signs, the triangle folds up into a small package. Cost: UK£20.76
