Sometimes it hurts me when I see a crowd-funding project which I know will fail miserably while the project owner firmly believes he has found the Egg of Columbus. In this case it is the Wind Cycle project on Kickstarter.
If you have a look at the introduction video, you can see that Brandon really believes it can work, but physics will prove him wrong. The idea is to use Ultra Capacitors instead of batteries, and have them charged while you ride your electric motorcycle using wind turbines.
First of all capacitors are very limited in the amount of electricity they can hold. To have enough to set you off on the road is fine, but then to use wind turbines to charge the capacitors is a pipedream. It is the same a perpetual motion machines, nice idea but physically impossible. To have a wind turbine turn sufficiently fast to generate enough electricity you require .... a lot of electricity, more electricity than what the wind turbines can generate.
In other words, you are not going to go very far. Pity for Brandon.
At the time of writing this he had got $360 pledged while he is looking for $12,000 to start the project. He even sold his car to get money to start.
