Indian manufacturer conglomerate M & M (Mahindra and Mahindra Open link in a new window), have taken a controlling interest in Europe's leading motorcycle design & engineering company, Italian Engines Engineering Spa Open link in a new window.

If you don't know who Engines Engineering Spa is, think Ducati 1098, HyperMotard and 999, Benelli TNT or the latest Yamaha 660Z Tenere (plus design work for Derbi, Gilera and Honda). So they're no small player. It's the company that works in the background for the motorcycle manufacturers, churning out major designed motorcycles. Have a look at their web site, "Works" menu, and then you're going to go "Ohhhh".

Anyway, M & M are a big manufacturer in India, with a revenue of US$6.7 Billion, making cars (Logan under license by Renault), transport trikes, Information Technology, holidays, steel, farming equipment, etc.

This purchase will give M & M a strong foothold in the motorcycle design market, allowing them to design new motorcycles not only for India, but for the world.

In a complex deal, M & M have taken a complete controlling interest over the Italian company.
