It looks like next year is going to be the year of the electric motorcycle and scooter, there were so many shown at Intermot 2008. Most of them came from Asia (like most thing nowadays), but a few were European. It now a question of getting the price down, the range up and the speed up... The first one on the list looks strange, but then most electric motorcycles look different. It's the German made eROCKIT . Though pedal powered, whatever the human powers by pedaling the 8 Kw engine multiplies by 50. So you can easily get a top speed of 80 kph (50 mph) There were several models by German Solar-Scooter , but unfortunately, there was nobody on the stand. This is the Solar-Scooter Italia, the equivalent of a 125 cc bike. Top speed is 70 kph with a range of 100 km (at 50 kph). Different version exist, with as difference the top speed. Prices start at €1290 and go up to €2290. This is there "Sport' version, the Solar-Scooter Sport. Also a 125 cc style cooter, but with a top speed of 88 kph. Range is 100 km at 50 kph. Price is around €3790. Another look at the Italia version. The dash of the Solar-Scooter. You get speed and battery indicators. This is the German made eMax . Three models exist, the 90S, 110S and the pictured 120L. The 120L gives you a top speed of 45 kph and a range of 100-120 kms. No price for the 120L. This is the eMax dash. Sober but nice.. The eMax 110S, costing €3295 with a 70-90 km range. The eMax 90S with a range of 45-60 kms costing €2995. This is the Swiss Vespino Sky Evolution 3.5. You get a top speed of 70-80 kph and a range of 80-100 kms. They have different, but smaller models as well. No price. This strange looking bike is French and is a concept, and is from Scorpa (the trial motorcycle builder). It's the eTricks, a "moped" class electric bike. The whole thing weighs 38 kgs and can be used by 14 year old kids. No performance figures or price supplied. This funky little scooter is from Taiwan based Sym and is called the e-Mio. At 63 kph top speed you get a range of 25 kms, and at 20 kph you get 40 kms range. The e-Mio is based on their 50cc scooter, the Mio. No availablity or prices known. This is Sym's little electric run-around, the ROBO. 32 kph top speed with a range of 44 km, or 20 kph with a range of 65 kms. Just what you need when you arrive at a harbor on your yacht and need to go out and buy some caviar... This last one is not electric. It's a direct methanol fuel cell motorcycle. It's from Korean S&T Motors . Not much else of known, speeds, range nor price.
