Suzuki had organized an enormous event outside the exhibition grounds, in fact, 30 minutes walk. They had taken over some old factory halls, and plastered all walls and streets with Suzuki signs and motorcycles. 800 people were expected. Already approaching the area, it was obvious that we had arrived in Suzuki land: What is to follow is 17 photos of the event Outside where several tents and Suzuki motorcycles, and a motorcycle jump board. Several riders were there waiting for their moment. They had even wheeled in the Suzuki cars. This one was demonstrating a Wii game with Suzuki motorcycles. inside the old hall, there were some 5 bars manned by pretty young ladies (or is it womanned?). Outside was a major big BBQ, with what look like a whole cow being barbecued. Tents were lined up with places to eat the cow. Several areas were designated for easy sitting. Inside there was a X-games style track, with several jumps. The press conference got opened by Kunihiko Uetsuki, President Suzuki Europe, with a speech that was written for the Paris press conference a couple of weeks ago. Guess we don't deserve our own... Finally after several speeches about how well Suzuki is doing, they showed the first new motorcycle, the Gladius. Anyone recognize the girl? First one to leave a comment with her name, gets the prize. The prize? A mention in my article.... your way to fame and fortune. This is the "new" MT1500 Intruder. Same prize for the person who recognizes the guy. And finally, the presentation of the latest version of the GSX-R 1000 motorcycle. Again, (this one should be easier), anyone recognize the rider? This is his motorcycle used a few days ago in a race in Europe.... come on, it's easy.... Suzuki further announced that in the upcoming MX2 season, Xavier Boog will be riding alongside young and upcoming talent Ken Roczen. Actually, it's Ken riding alongside Xavier. They further introduced a German partnership with the mint maker Fisherman Friend, which will involve many giveaways, including some 80 of the multicolored scooters. Well, that wraps up the first day. Off to sleep for a hard 2nd day. Remember, I'm just showing you highlights, and once I'm back, I'll deepen the material. I'll leave you with a photo of the only real new motorcycle, the Gladius.
