Fear not, we'll still be able to enjoy the roar of motorcycle engines at the next Isle of Man TT race. The traditional TT race is still being held, but now there's a race inside the race, and that is the race of "clean emissions". Next year, 12th of June 2009, will see the first TTxGP motorcycle race with electric and hydrogen motorcycle competing for the first prize. Very much like in the old days of the TT, most of the already 30 teams that have registered, are not professional teams, but teams consisting of passionate people. Yes, some teams are professional, with engineers, mechanics and umbrella girls...some are from universities, and some from corporate, but the majority are people who believe in ecological motorcycles. Electric motorcycles like the Brammo Motorsport Enertia {link} have already entered the race. For lovers of clean motorcycle, being able to race in world's oldest motorcycle race is a very good sign. It's only thanks to races like the TT that innovations and progress in technologies are made. Then, after a few years, who knows, maybe we'll see MotoGP running on electric motorcycles. In the mean time, it's going to be interesting to see (and hear). Along comes a roaring 1000 cc motorcycle, and then a totally silent electric motorcycles. I wonder if the race stewards are aware that it poses a security risk.... Click here for more information (there's a discussion forum) Personally, I thrilled about this race. I think it's a sign of times to come. Next step, the 24 hours of Le Mans on electric motorcycles... Here's a list of electric motorcycles..
