You've got to be pretty hard up financially if you can't pay for stamps anymore. Unfortunately, that is what is happening in Italy, where the cash-strapped government has run out of money. The Ministry of Transportation for the last two months have not sent out driving license renewal stickers, residency stickers, and letters to speeding riders telling them how many license points they have left. And the reason they have not sent these letters????? Because they have no money to pay for postage stamps! The "funny" thing is, that to renew your driving license, you will need to fork out €40 - €80, part of that is for mailing your license to you. So I guess the stamp money goes to something else, not stamps. Maybe a good pasta meal... But I bet you that speeding fines are still being sent...
