What a crazy world we live in. Remember that German judge we wrote about a few weeks back (link  )? He is one of the very few intelligent judges out there that understands what it is all about, and doesn't apply a law just because it's there.
If in his eyes if the law is illegal, he will not apply it. Bravo, and thank you. But that is not how the story ended.
Obviously the cash-strapped government does not want this to happen. They need your money, and they need it fast. So judge Helmut Knoner has been removed from judging speeding offenses and is facing two criminal charges for acquitting 42 motorists, and the 42 motorists who thought they got away with it are going before an appellate court.
Damn, and I thought this was a great fairy tale, but it's ending in a horror story, for the judge and the motorists. Pity.
