When one mentions Leon Haslam you don't immediately think off-road. The British World Superbike racer is known for his high speeds and daring overtaking maneuvers on his BMW Superbike in the WSB championships. But Leon started his motorcycle career riding off-road. In 1995 and 1996 he won the British Youth Motocross Championship. So for a once in a lifetime experience you can join Leon Haslam and chief off road instructor, Simon Pavey , at the BMW Off Road Skills Course on 25 to 26 July this year to be taught by the masters of off-road riding. So not only will you receive off-road riding instructions from Leon Haslam (a few days before he goes to Silverstone for the British portion of the WSB Championship) at the excellent BMW Off Road Skills Course, but also of course by the team of experienced instructors headed by the excellent and charismatic Simon "Si" Pavey. Leon Haslam: “I started my racing career in motocross before switching to track bikes in 1997, but I love riding off-road. It’s a fantastic way to keep fit and so much fun. Earlier this year my team mate Troy Corser and I did an off-road adventure near Philip Island on R 1200 GSs and F 800 GSs and I had a fantastic time. I can’t wait to get back on an adventure sports bike, pick up some tips from Simon and hopefully pass on some of my own experience to the riders who join us there. Having taught with my dad at his race school in the past, I hope I can be of some help!” Simon Pavey said: “We’re very excited to have Leon coming to the school. He’s a perfect illustration of how riding off-road keeps you in good shape and helps build your confidence on the road and track. Whether you’re coming to ride with us for the first time, or you’re returning to take on our most advanced off-road course, this is the perfect opportunity to come and ride with BMW’s World Superbike rider Leon Haslam.” Click here to for more info on the BMW Off Road Skills Course Click here to book the BMW Off Road Skills Course (there are only 28 participants allowed, so if you're interested, hurry).
