Regular readers of this site know that it's not easy trying to bring information to the internet. Between spammers, viruses, hackers, DOS attacks, bad service companies and technical problems, you get faced with enough issues to throw in the towel. Now we can add another one. French car manufacturer Renault , has brought legal charges to a journalist from the French car magazine Auto Plus . The journalist is currently in prison undergoing interrogations, and can face a five year prison term. The reason: he received photos of a new version of an existing car from Renault that was going to be released in 3 years. The photos were given by a Renault employee. Now, Renault have had him charged on 5 different counts, including industrial espionage, hoping that he'll give up the name of his source. The French law is a bit foggy on this point, but publishing spy shots apparently can be seen as espionage. That is of course scandalous, and companies like Renault should know better. The media storm this has already generated can only hurt them 1000x more than the published photos. Can you imagine not be able to publish spy shots...??? I wonder if this only a French thing, or can other countries apply some obscure laws. I know that manufacturers would love to be able to stop sites from publishing spy shots of their products being tested, but we all have our jobs, and if they do theirs properly, they wouldn't have these problems. Damn.... now I can't publish those spy shots I took of the new BMW K1800LT motorcycle..
