For those of you who have the Garmin Zumo 550 GPS, you'll know what I'm talking about. It's a great piece of technology, with very good navigation, display, made for motorcycles, and it even has a MP3 music player incorporated in the GPS. What more could you ask for, a nice voice telling you where to ride, while listening to great music. The only problem is if you've hooked up the Garmin to a Bluetooth headset (either for a helmet manufacturer or via a 3rd party wireless provider), you can only listen to the music in an awful mono sound. Even if your Bluetooth equipment is full stereo, you will only receive mono from your Garmin. I would call it a design mistake from Garmin, or a "ooops, it should have been stereo but we screwed up". But not to worry. Collett Electronics from Canada have a solution. They've designed a gadget, called the Z550 , that you plug into the audio-out port of your Garmin GPS. The Collett Z550 IS equipped with a full stereo Bluetooth (A2DP), and should be compatible with all Bluetooth headsets out there (click here to see the list of 3rd party headsets, and here for Bluetooth helmets we've found so far). Now, you can receive the sexy voice telling you when to turn, talk to your mother on your mobile phone, while listening to stereo music. Price: $179.95 Click here for more information .
