For some, the economic crisis does not exist ... thankfully. French luxury designer, Jerome Coste, inspired by Steve McQueen, is producing very stylish motorcycle helmets, a sort of "haute couture" for motorcycle helmets. The sort Brad Pitt would wear around the house... Under the brand name Les Ateliers Ruby , Jerome not only makes very customizable helmets, but also matching silk scarves. These unique models even have a limited series edition. Jerome, himself is a passionate biker, used his many crash experiences to produce this unique helmet. Ruby silk scarve |
What's interesting is that they have a website that allows you to customize the the helmet to suite your taste and style. At the Boutique Ruby, you'll find a "personalization service". Once at their website, you have the possibility to go "a la carte", meaning you use their website to design your helmet, or you make an appointment for an even more customized version. I guess it's the difference between designer off-the-peg and tailor-made. In the "a la carte" option, you have many choices. Not of the helmet types, there's only one, a jet helmet. But you have the choices of decorations, colors, paint finish, and other details. You can make the helmet very personalized, almost unique. One of the first things you'll need to specify is what kind of certification you want, Europe or the USA (Japan coming shortly). The helmets are available in many countries, including the USA. Obviously luxury has a price, if not it wouldn't be luxury. The basic model should set you back €657 in Europe or US$965 in the USA. When you start customizing, you'll see that price go up. The customization website is quite interesting. It takes you through all the options, and at every stage you can see what your helmet will look like (and the price). Is this the new Dior or Cartier of the motorcycle world? Click here to access the customization website .
