I can't tell you how glad I was to see the MotoGP season starting. It has been a long winter. Dogs were put out, swmbo was loaned out to the neighbor, hot dogs heated up, peanuts within arm's length. And what a race it was. Suspense, lots of fast rookies; all the ingredients for a great MotoGP season. However.... one false note. Watching the time trials, I was thinking that these night rides are very good. The TV camera would focus on a specific rider, and the image was crystal clear and very easy to follow. So with eager anticipation, I was ready for the race. But, during most of the race, the TV cameras don't follow one single rider, they follow several, and now the image is blurred. At times I thought it was so un-sharp, that you couldn't make out who was riding which motorcycle. Even the TV commentator was complaining. They explained that even though there's a lot of light, there's still 30% less light than during normal daytime races, so the TV cameras are slow in picking up the images (like a photo camera set to ISO 100 during evening photo shoots). So... that was a bummer, but still, at least it was a MotoGP race.
