The 24 hours motorcycle endurance race of Le Mans. is almost upon us (24 and 25 September), and we now have the list of motorcycle resting places along the French roads leading to Le Mans.
The 24 Hours of Le Mans is a big event. This year sees 62 motorcycle teams participating in the endurance race. The English well-known rock group Status Quo will be providing the evening's entertainment. There are plenty of hotels, B&Bs and a lot of camping places alongside the circuit. You can expect a large crowd, plenty of stands selling you almost anything you can imagine, and a lot of booze. The usual Relais Motards Calmos, motorcycle rest places (for those of you who need to ride long distance, and need a place to calm down, tank up, re-energize or just meet up with fellow bikers), will be present before and after the 24 Hours motorcycle race held at the Le Mans (see the related articles below to see what a Relais Calmos looks like). Some rest stops offer food, drinks, mechanics, massage or even sleeping arrangements. This service is offered, mostly for free, by the French Government and the FFMC . The rest stops are usually very well indicated on the roads leading to the rest stop. Keep a look out for signs saying "Relais Calmos". NOTE: The number before the "/" in the title is the Department number (province number). Click on the blue globe for a zoomable map. Some of the locations are approximate! NOTE2: In the general map, clicking on a red marker will give you the same information about the Relais Calmos. WARNING: There will be a lot of Police speed radars installed along the major roads there. Sunday, the mobile Police force will be out in massive numbers, so watch your speed!
NOTE: The map can only be viewed when only the single article is loaded, so not via the main (front) page. Click on the (blue) headline to load just this article (if it is red, than it has been loaded).
