After a spate of extreme violence, even in public areas like Sydney airport, the politicians in Australia have voted in a new law that will forbid biker gangs. The authorities can rule that a motorcycle gang is a criminal gang, and seize their properties and belongings (including their motorcycles). Gang members can be thrown in jail just for belonging to a gang. A maximum of 5 years be imposed on them when arrested. According to the politicians, if you're a "normal" biker, you have nothing to fear. But we all know how that can turn out. A ride-out that is a bit noisy, and people complain, can quickly result in the authorities ruling that you are a criminal gang. I don't know... I can understand the frustration of the people when gang members are at each's throats, specially in public areas, but laws have a way of turning against people. There are people who dislike any motorcycle rider, and automatically assume that they are criminals just because they ride a motorcycle. This could be dangerous for all of us.
