Score: Plot: 1 Acting: 1 Visual: 1 Sound: 1 Nudity: None Gore: None | The old biker movie, The Rebel Rousers, should be a movie shown in every cinema school around the world! Aspiring actors, directors, stuntmen can all see how a movie should not be made. The quality of the movie is so bad, the script so dubious, the picture quality worse than what you'd expect in the 60's on TV and the sound is straight from a tin can. In other words, a perfect biker movie.... It must have cost them the grand sum of $10,000 to make this movie. When you watch the stunts, you can't help bad laugh. Badly thrown punches, motorcycle put down gently when crashing... It reminds me of the old Batman TV series, with the same style music, the only thing missing is the "KAPOW", "BLAM" .. etc. The movie was finished in 1967 but there were no takers (I wonder why). That is until a certain actor in the movie, Jack Nicholson, became famous in 1969 for his role in the other motorcycle movie, Easy Rider. Then it was released in 1970. The story, if you can call it a story, is a simple one. A bad motorcycle gang, The Rebel Rousers, invades a Spanish speaking town (presuming to be Mexico, or South California). The one-horse town has a sheriff and a drunken and cowardly deputy who run the gang out of town. The gang goes to a beach, somehow capture a friend of the leader of the gang (the leader has no authority over the gang) and his pregnant girlfriend, and then after being beaten up by the gang, the friend gets the help from the locals. Everybody happy. The best part of the movie was when the motorcycle gang was holding a fake wedding before raping the pregnant girl (don't worry, the movie has no nudity, sex or gore). The leader of the gang holds up "their Bible; the Harley-Davidson Service Manual" and reads that you need maintenance and lubrication for good riding pleasure.... hilarious. There's lots of motorcycle riding around, nothing fancy, horsing on the beach and road. It's one of those movies you need to have seen because it's part of biker history.
