I kid you not, this is going to be my next PTW. It's based on the popular (many years ago) VeloSolex , and it's converted to electric. It's called the e-Solex . Basically, it's an electric bicycle, with a reasonable top speed of 35 kph (about 22 mph), and a range, in eco mode, of 2 hours or about 60 kilometers (enough to go and buy a baguette or croissant). If you want to go faster, you'll need to peddle. Where the engine used to be, you'll now find the "glove compartment", since the engine is below the seat, and the battery is in the frame. The battery itself produces 400 watts with 36 Volts. The e-Solex weighs 40 kgs. The original VeloSolex used to look like this: As you can see, they've kept the original form pretty much intact. The dummy engine (on the front wheel) looks real. They're currently only selling in France, but will shortly appear throughout Europe. Cost: €1150, which is not bad considering what a moped would cost you. Click here to read more about it (in French)
