We've probably all heard of the Iron Butt Association (IBA- you know, the organization that certifies that you're crazy.... crazy to ride a million miles in a day ...seriously, lots of people ride long distance, and IBA is an organization that makes you prove that you've actually done it, not just talked about it). Well, another American group has been created to effectively do the same thing; certify that you're a long distance rider. The organization is called Long Distance Riders (LDR), and they certify the following rides: - Easy Rider: 500 miles in 12 hours
- Full Throttle 1000 miles in 24 hours
- King of the Road 1500 miles in 36 hours
- Born to be Wild a Coast to Coast ride in 48 hours.
Of course this is American stuff. Doing 500 miles in 12 hours shouldn't be a real problem, unless you've got a 50 cc moped. But doing 1000 miles in 24 hours should be more tough, considering the severe speed limits. I can imagine doing 1,000 in Germany would be no problem on a Hayabusa. All-in-all, I can't really see the difference, apart that they promise to get nice patches... Click here to access their site
