BikeGPSTracking launched a new low cost GPS based tracking device for motorcycles, the MC242. For US$ 349, you get a small device that not only allows you to track your motorcycle (or your spouse/boss to check on you) anywhere in North America, but also offers a few nice additional services. For example, you can tether yourself to the unit. What that means, if you are thrown off your motorcycle (for example when off-roading), the unit sends out an emergency SMS message to predefined recipients. The unit also has a panic button, when pressed a SMS is sent. Furthermore, the unit include a motion/vibration detector; when the unit is moved for over 100 yards with no key in the ignition, it raises an alarm. At their website, BikeGPSTracking have a demo mapping program. You can see what it looks like in real life to be able to follow a vehicle on your screen. A bit spooky, like Big Brother is watching. Several data plans are available, depending on the update frequency you desire. Click here to access their site .
