France is known not only for its great food and beautiful landscapes and castles, but also for its many luxury goods, like Louis Vitton, champagnes like Moet & Chandon, Dom Perignon, watches like Bvlgari, Tag Heuer and perfumes like Dior, Guerlain, Kenzo (all brands of French luxury giant LVMH).

And let's face it, luxury costs money, if not it wouldn't be luxury. and now France has another luxury thing to add to the list; motorcycles.

There aren't that many luxury motorcycles around. The first brand that springs to mind is Confederate, and even that is a bit more pass-produced to be a real luxury brand. Now, after 15 years of planning and testing since it was first introduced, the Midual Open Midual link in a new window brand was introduced at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

Midual Type 1

This beautifully crafted motorcycle is handmade and imposing. But let's get the important part out of the way; the price. This machine will cost you a house and your first born, namely €140.000. But if you have to ask anyway, you can't afford it. It's going to be the likes of Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise et al who will be riding this beauty.

Midual Type 1

The power plant of the motorcycle is a flat twin angled at 25° with a transverse crankshaft. It has a displacement of 1036 cc with 106 HP at 8000 rpm.

The maximum torque is 100 Nm delivered at 5300 rpm.

The bike weighs 239 kg wet and the seat height is 810 mm (tall enough for Tom Cruise to sit on without using heel risers). The fuel tank holds 14 liters.

Midual Type 1

The wheelbase is 1505 mm, so reasonably long for a roadster.

Midual Type 1

Apart from a single central console on the handlebars, the rest of the instruments are to be found on the fuel tank. The instrument panel resembles the console of a jet fighter...

Midual Type 1

There are more dials and consoles than on my car.

The rest of the bike is carefully and beautifully crafted. Looking at some of the detailed photos, you can see why this is a luxury motorcycle.

A lot of attention is being paid to the smallest details.

Several color options will be available when the motorcycle goes on sale in 2016. But mind you, only 35 will be available in 2016 so if you want to beat Pitt or Cruise from buying theirs, better hurry up and reserve one today.

Midual Type 1

If you are looking for electronics, forget it. This is a pure motorcycle; no traction control, ride-by-wire, ABS, cruise control nor an espresso machine (sorry George Clooney).
