	New Radar Cars Even More Difficult To Detect 12 July 2011   File under  France Travel   Author: Mike Werner   Location: Normandy, France The governments of the world, particularly the French, are coming up with more novel ideas to part you with your hard earned money. The static radars placed alongside the road, have long ago lost their money making edge, so they need to look for new ideas. One idea, not new at all, is to place a radar in an unmarked police car. So far, if you paid attention, you could see the camera sticking out of the rear or front of the car. Or, if you were lucky, the vehicle in front of you got photographed, and the flash from the camera could be spotted, giving you time to slow down. But all that is going to be over shortly. The police in France are testing two new radar models, incorporated in unmarked cars. One makes high definition photos, the other shoots video footage. But both use infrared, so no more flash. You can now barely see the radar, and the new technology can "see" lots more than the older ones. They can even see if you're using the outlawed radar detectors. If the government would invest the money they are investing in radar technology into road safety, more lives would be saved. But it would also mean no revenue for them, so they'll never do that.
