Simple and straight statement. From previous reports {link}, it's very obvious that the New York Police Department does not like motorcycles, or it's been told not to like motorcycles. For the Americade show, the New York State Police have set up roadblocks to "trap" motorcycle riders coming to this popular trade show. Some 50,000 riders are expected to attend, so it's a wet dream for the local cops. On Friday, the local "Law Enforcement Officers" forced 123 riders to a rest area where they were all searched. 48 tickets were issued; non-approved helmets, nose picking, etc. "Please pay at the cash register before leaving, thank you, and have a nice day....." It's a shame that New York has decided to be hostile towards bikers, since bikers do bring in a lot of tourist dollars to any place they visit, and in today's economy, I would have thought that the Police not only would welcome a large group like this, but would escort them as VIPs, not as gangsters. According to the Police, it's all about motorcycle safety, since the number of motorcycle fatalities has rising sharply. Do they really think that a) any 8 year would believe that, b) that it would make any difference? Education is done at class level, not when riding. Will they never learn.....
