Paris Mondial 2007: KTM

Austrian motorcycle manufacturer, KTM, managed to pull a rabbit out of their collective hats.

The KTM powers made the usual speeches, sales, market, growth, innovative, yawn, yawn.

Finally, they started on the 4 new products, all based on the new LC4.

Lots of heavy brass available for the worldwide presentation of their new models. France is an important market for KTM, and they've shown it by presenting the new models in Paris, and not Milan.

The first motorcycle that was presented physically (instead of slides) was the newest one, the KTM Concept690Stunt. I was stuck against the motorcycle, so the photo will be a bit white, but then, guess what... the bike is white/gray/silver..

The new motorcycle is meant to be a "do all".

It's slim, and good looking. It's based on the 690SM, and will be considered an entry motorcycle.

The LC4 690SMR.

And finally the LC4 690 Enduro. Since it looks kind of empty, I asked one of the demo guys to sit on it... just to make it look real...

Here it is. Good looking lad.... (in case you haven't recognized him, it's Cyril Despres, double winner of the Dakar race)...

I didn't manage to get the 690 Duke, but will show you more photos and details when I get home over the next few days.

Tomorrow I'm back at the show, without my computer, and by Monday, I'll start fleshing out all the new stuff.

I hope you enjoyed the short "live" overview of the Paris Mondial Motorcycle Exhibition. I'm off to get a massage... I need it...

Dude, think about it.. we're (1 1/2 person) are running from press conference to press conference. There is no time out between conferences. So we quickly upload some interesting photos, sorting through 100's of photos in seconds, write up some comments, and upload. Then run to the next press conference, burdened by 3 cameras, 5 heavy lenses, 1 portable computer, and kilos of material given to us by the manufacturers... where do we get the time to write up the specs.. unless we're 10 staff..
