One of my main reasons for visiting the Paris based Le Salon de la Moto Open link in a new window was to find manufacturers you rarely see. Usually you'll find them hidden in some obscure alleyway in some exhibition hall since money is tight.

But the Paris based exhibition is not so big, finding new motorcycles or equipment is far easier. Here is a French manufacturer of electric scooters called EcCity Open EcCity link in a new window. Below you see one of their three models, the Artelec 670.

Their electric scooters are targeted for daily commuters who would normally take a 125 cc scooter. The scoots look funky. The top-of-the-line Artelec 670 looks the same as its smaller brother, the 660 or the Ventys 340. All come equipped standard with a topcase.

The battery is a Lithium-ìon 66,6 V, 72 Ah battery.

With its big headlight, you get your own personality. The 6000 W engine gives you the same performances as a classical 125cc. When taking off, the engine gives you an increased power of 10,000 watts.

The top speed is 100 kph, and at that speed you can ride the scooter for 75 kilometers before you need to recharge. Recharging will take between 6 and 8 hours, depending on the charger.

The dashboard is clean and sober. You don't get the latest weather information, or the stock exchange, but what the power consumption is, how fast you are going and how much power is left.

Under the saddle is place for the charging cable (standard 220 Volt outlets) and a jet/open face helmet. The battery is good for 60,000 kilometers, after that it will only charge up to 70%.

The price of the Artelec 670 is €7500. Its smaller brother, the Artelec 660 will cost €5820 (90 kph top speed, range 60-100 kms). The smallest scooter they have is the Ventys 340, costing €4590 (75 kph top speed, 40-60 kms range).
