Last Thursday saw an unprecedented strike in Paris and other cities in France. Unions took to the street to protest about everything under the sun; from the economic crisis, to wages, to the color of their uniforms, the food, to the bitter winter cold, you name it... if you had a beef, now was the time to show it. It didn't matter to the unions, nor to the political parties sponsoring the protest strike, that they are killing off the economy that is already in dire need for some TLC. But with their strike, they also managed to force people who did want to go to work, to stay at home, since there was little public transport running. The Parisian motorcycle taxis {link} hit the pay-dirt with the strike. Their services were fully booked, days in advance. Several operators managed to generate revenues of thousands of Euros during that day. With any public transport strike, people move closer to motorcycle taxis. Many are discovering them for the first time, being forced to use them, and now find that they offer many more advantages then disadvantages. So thank you unions for making motorcycle taxi more popular. At least you've done one good thing.
