The Italian toy manufacturer Peg Perego has had a good working relationship with that other famous Italian brand, Ducati . Ducati motorcycle models can be found in the Peg Perego catalog for many years now, and this year's catalog see an explosion of Ducati motorcycles, probably thanks to the arrival of Valentino Rossi at Ducati. The Peg Perego motorcycles are divided into 3 categories. All are electric (hint to Ducati... maybe an electric motorcycle?) 6V, 12V and 24V. Obviously, the more Voltage, the faster the motorcycle will go, and the older the kids should be to ride them. But don't worry too much, the top-of-the-line 24V bike has a top speed of 16 kph, a tad slower than Rossi's real MotoGP motorcycle at this moment. Most of the models, at least the 12V and 24V have engine sounds, horns, throttles and gears. 6V Models The 6V models have three wheels, and are meant for kids older than 2 years. They don't have gears, and top speed depends on the model, but ranges between 3.9 and 4.2 kph ( 2.4 and 2.6 mph). The first race motorcycle in the range is the one dedicated to Troy Bayliss when he won the 2008 Superbike trophy: Even Valentino Rossi's GP11 motorcycle is present in the catalog: Here's the "office" view: The 6V models will set you back some US$ 150 and more, depending on the model. 12V Models The 12V models have two wheels, but you can place training wheels on them. They are meant for kids older than 3 years, and have a top speed in 2nd gear of 7.6 to 8.3 kph ( 4.7 - 5.1 mph), depending on the model. This is the bike that started the Peg Perego craze: Personally, I find this the best shot, and best looking motorcycle: Again, Rossi's GP11 bike: The 12V models differ greatly in price, but expect to pay around US$280. 24V Models Funny enough, the "super fast" 24V model only comes in Nicky Hayden flavor... so it's the MotoGP version and has a top speed in 2nd gear of 16 kph (9.9 mph). I couldn't find any prices, but expect 400+ US$. What a time to be a child again.... if only I had children, I know what I would be buying them.
