The Police force in the state of Victoria, Australia voted to go on strike, leaving the state's speed cameras alone. 99% of the Police force will stop collecting fines, thereby costing the local government a small fortune. The Police want a 5% salary increase, while the government only offered them 3.5%.
The strike could cost them A$700 million (their annual revenue in fines).
The Police even ran TV ads promoting the strike (that must be a first). Here's the ad:
Put The Pinch Back on Crime (44 seconds)
I guess hitting the government where it hurts (their wallets) will have the desired effect.
