For those of you who need to ride long, and often boring, straight stretches of roads on your motorcycle will know the problem. Your right hand becomes numb, blood circulates less well and before you know it, you want to let go of the throttle. But when you do, your motorcycle stops riding.

Some upmarket motorcycles come equipped with a cruise control, functioning very much like their car-counterparts. But it's a very expensive option, something you would do if you need to ride 100's of miles every day.

Alternatively there are nice third party accessories on the market. I myself had equipped one of my bikes with a Kaoko Open Kaoko link in a new window "cruise control" but there are many others.

Go Cruise Throttle Assist

Here is a nice one that is cheap, and well thought out. It's the Go Cruise Throttle Assist Open Thecycleguys link in a new window from Open link in a new window. The idea behind the product is simple and very effective.

Go Cruise Throttle Assist

You place the Go Cruise on the throttle by clipping it on. It should fit most types of motorcycle throttles and several dimension are available.

When riding and you want to "block" the throttle in the position you are in at that moment, you just slide the Go Cruise with your right index finger against the brake lever. That's it, it's in operation now.

Go Cruise Throttle Assist

You can now remove your right hand from the throttle, the Go Cruiser blocks the throttle in position. No worries if you need to suddenly hit the brakes. The throttle will turn, and you'll be able to access the brake lever like you would normally do. Only difference is that your right hand will need to travel to the throttle, so do take that into account.

It's simple and very effective. I haven't tried this throttle, but will have to assume it's better than my old Kaoko which was difficult to put into lock. Just look at the video below to see how it's installed and used.

Price: US$19.99
