It looks like KTM Open link in a new window are still at the top of the OiLybia Rallye Maroc Open link in a new window, with the top two spots going to Marc Coma Open link in a new window followed by Cyril Despres. Rodriques Helder on his Yamaha finished third.

The bad news for the new BMW motorcycle team is that David Fretigne Open link in a new window crashed heavily, and broke his collarbone. That's going to put a dent into BMW's Dakar plans.

Here's what Cyril Despres Open link in a new window has to say:

Cyril Despres (Red Bull KTM)

Once again the navigation was a little tricky today. At around kilometre 100 on the first loop, at a modification to the road book, I went a little too far to the right before cutting left again for about 2 kilometres to get back on the correct piste. Then a kilometre from the end of the first loop I got properly stuck in some soft sand and Marc went by.

I started the second lap second and rode with Marc virtually the whole way. Obviously we didn’t get lost again and the pace was much quicker – we were a whole 10 minutes faster than the first time around! But despite attacking hard over soft sand the bike once again ran faultlessly – a very encouraging second day!

Finally, commiserations to David Fretigne, who has apparently broken his collarbone. Like us he needed to put kilometres on his new bike in preparation for the Dakar and I can easily imagine his frustration at going out so early in the race. I wish him a speedy recovery.”
