The world famous Royal Air Force Aerobatic Display Team, the Red Arrows , traded in their Hawk fighter jets for something much more mundane; a Vespa 125 S scooter. They did not do this because the fighter jets are too fast or to help the British economy save some money on petrol, but for a charity run. The 10 Red Arrows pilots, plus 4 pilots of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, went riding their scooters across the UK, travelling some 1,000 miles from Land's End to John O'Croats . If they would have done it in their jets, it would have taken them an hour or so, but with the slightly slower Vespa, it took them 4 days. The Vespa Red Arrows team left on the 30th of September and "landed" in John O'Croats on October the 3rd. Click here to read more about the Red Arrow charity ride and see many photos . I wonder if they had in-flight fueling?
