Though there are many motorcycle riding musicians out there, with a few exceptions, not many write and sing about motorcycles and do it in a professional way. Here's one of the exceptions. The Meanstreet Riders band | The band Meanstreet Riders was formed in 2009 by a bunch of professional musicians/songwriters who where riding US Highway 129, better know as "Deals Gap" or "The Dragon". They formed the band, and have just released their first album, entitled "High on the Hog". The album is great, really meant for motorcycle riders, since the songs deal with all aspects of riding, from riding a Harley (as in the title song "High on the Hog"), to riding the 129 (appropriately called "129"). Other songs include "I've had a good ride" which is based on a ride to Sturgis, "Rollin' On" which is based on the Easy Rider movie, and many more. The music style is a cross between Rock, Country and Ballads, with some Blues thrown in for good measure. Some of them have a great rhythm, very useful when listening to music while riding long distance. Some are more mellow tunes. The title song says it all, giving you a taste on what the album will sound like. So far, only 4 MP3/iTunes/Zune downloads are available, no physical CDs yet. The CD should be released shortly with some 10 songs. Below are some of the addresses you can find the songs to download.
Update: J&P Cycles will be carrying the CD starting in June 2011. Check the Meanstreet Riders web site for other locations when they become available. |
