Royal Enfield’s Electric Motorcycle: Pioneer 07

When you mention Royal Enfield and "Modern Design" in one sentence, you will get a lot of confused stares from people. The Indian motorcycle manufacturer has been making the same motorcycle since the beginning of time. The Royal Enfield BulletRoyal Enfield Bullet 500 is a classic, and their latest offering, the Continental GTParis Salon 2013 Odds Ends: Royal Enfield Continental GT is a cafe racer which looks like it came straight out of a 60's Mods & Rockers movie.

So when you see some pictures of an electric motorcycle, and it's a Royal Enfield, you naturally start asking a few questions. Well, needless to say, it's a concept, a study by Swedish Daniel Lars Gunnarsson, so not from Enfield.

But the modern, almost sci-fi looking, motorcycle is electrically driven, or as the designer says "non-combustion" engine. The motorcycle uses self-balancing technology, particularly aimed at newbie bikers. They are meant to stabilize the bike when braking and taking curves a bit too fast.

According to the Swedish designer, the motorcycle will have a 6th sense (it sees dead motorcycles..;-). Will we ever see this e-motorcycle on the road. I doubt it. Especially under the Royal Enfield banner, that makes beautiful retro-bikes, not e-bikes.
