The police in Sebastopol , California have decided to go high-tech and ecological. Instead of patrolling their local parks on their normal Harley-Davidson motorcycles, or on foot, they have opted for an electric Zero Motorcycle . The electric motorcycle is equipped with police markings, lights and sirens. The US$6,000 motorcycle will be used to silently patrol the natural parks in their area. According to the Sergeant in charge of the bike “Going down a trail, where I would not normally hear someone talking in the bush line, I can hear them”. That means it's the end of couples necking in the woods. Now you can be heard, while you'll not hear the motorcycle coming up to you. So better get dressed quickly. This is the second law enforcement motorcycle sold in California. The first one was to the Scotts Valley Police Department. Shortly you'll be seeing more and more electric motorcycles joining police forces all over the world. Silent and cheap to run, they should be ideal for patrolling duties.
