As you may have noticed, there are still times it's very difficult to reach this site. There are a couple of spammers playing with the site, sending 100,000's of comment spams over a period of an hour or so.
They either are trying to peddle their porn or viagra via comments, though 100% of them never make it, or they're trying to bring the site down. We've moved the site to a big and more powerful server, so mostly it slows down the site, but when there's a couple of them hitting the site, it does make access almost impossible.
It's not difficult to bring any site down, so I can't really see the challenge. A 6 year old kid can do it. If they're really spamming, then they're not very smart, since loading one or a million comment spams, it doesn't matter, none are displayed. So why even bother?
One spammer is even sending 100's of links in one comment, almost 2 pages per comment, and he's doing that for about 3,000 articles...not too smart...
It's frustrating for everyone, you the reader since you can't access the site, and me, because it's costing me tons of money. I know that I'm not the only one suffering these attacks, but they tend to go after popular sites. But what can one do?
I've been in touch with the "authorities", and they looked, but since most use zombies spread around the world, it ends there. Sorry folks.
I'm just hoping they'll realize that the only thing they're accomplishing is taking this site of the air.
