For the truly brave bikers, the ones that don't mind a bit of cold weather, snow and ice, and those than can sleep in a tent covered with snow, this one is for you. Once a year in Spain (yes, it does get cold there), the annual Pinguinos  gathering (Pinguinos is Spanish for Penguins) attracts over 27,000 motorcycle riders from all over Europe and beyond.
Braving the cold weather, they sleep in tents, and do several group ride-outs in the snow, parading in the main city of Valladolid  . In the evenings there are concerts, strip shows (poor girls...) and many famous motorcycle riders are present at this unique event.
In the past, famous racers like Dani Pedrosa, Jorge Lorenzo, Nico Terol, Nani Roma (former Dakar motorcycle and car winner), Alvaro Bautista, Hector Faubel, Ivan Cervantes, Marc Marquez and former legendary racers like Angel Nieto and Giacomo Agostini regularly attend this gathering (though I don't think they sleep in tents).
The program starts on January 10 2013 and ends on the 13th. Hot drinks will be available continuously to warm up the participants. Friday and Saturday night will see several live rock concerts, and there are even several strip shows planned. Apart from the massive ride outs, there are also several stunt shows in the program.
It'll cost you $25 to participate, but if you belong to a club, it'll be less (€20). Bikers from all over the world attend this event, so if you're game, don't miss out on this unique event.
