Not many people doubt that Ducati make some of the most awesome sports motorcycles in existence today. The Ducati 1198 engine is truly a wonder of technology, giving motorcycle riders around the world the ability to ride a motorcycle with F1-like performances. So it's no surprise that a company decided to take the desmodromic-valved engine from Ducati, and bolt it on a lightweight sports car. And that company is the Spartan Motor Company in Australia. They took the same engine that gave Carlos Checa the Superbike World Champion title, all 170 hp of it, and put it in a 350 kgs car. Ultra light, and lots of power means only one thing; the car will accelerate as fast as a fast motorcycle. 0-100 kph in 3 seconds and a top speed of 260 kph. The instrument panel is the Ducati 1198 dashboard, so no fooling around there. So you get a super fast car with motorcycle-like performance, and even a real motorcycle engine.... but not for a motorcycle price..... Cost: AU$110,000 / €84,000 / US$112,000 Click here to for more info and photos of the Spartan Ducati car .
