Just because it's hot does not mean that you should shed your protective gear when riding your motorcycle. It just means you got to adapt your clothing. Hot weather means that traditional biker gear, like leathers, become very hot inside, and that is not a good thing.
Italian Spidi have a new and interesting warm weather jacket called Plenair. The Plenair biker jacket is mostly meshed but reinforced with protectors.
The jacket's mesh allows your skin to receive air while riding, cooling down your skin and body, but the Tex and Mesh fabric is strong enough to resist sliding if you get thrown off your motorcycle.
The mesh is not everywhere, but in the places that will receive the best air flow. Despite the mesh, there are still 4 exterior pockets that can be closed and one inside pocket.
The back is also meshed since often the air slides over our windshields and returns to our body via the back, so this way your body can cool down.
There are adjustable Velcro straps allowing you to adjust the jacket to your body. The shoulders and elbows have EN 1621-1 certified protectors installed.
The back can receive optional EN 1621-2 Level 1 or Level 2 dorsal protectors. Without these dorsal protectors the jacket weighs 1.3 kg.
The jacket also has strategically placed reflectors so that you can be seen at night.
The jacket costs around US$260 / €190. Colors are either Black or Gray. There is a video introducing the jacket below.
