This weekend see the start of the notorious Red Bull RoManiacs hard enduro motorcycle race. It's the fifth edition, each one harder than the previous. The hard motorcycle enduro/rally is held around the city of Sibiu, Romania , instead of trekking throughout the country. This way, fans can see the multi-day event, and not come for only one day. As usual, the professional riders are present. The top 20 of the Erzberg Rodeo and the Last Man Standing qualify. Last year Romaniacs winner, Michel Gau, has his title to defend. Others of the 36 pros starting include the likes of Dutchman Frans Verhoeven, Chris Birch from New Zealand, Paul Bolton from the UK and Kyle Redmond from the USA. Apart from the pro and expert categories, there are also the Hobby and Tourist category. The Tourist category is for teams of 2 - 3 riders who want to enjoy the scenery, and not to have to fight to get there. The event starts on Saturday 13 September in Sibiu itself. In this prolog, the contestants need to ride the extreme obstacle course, hoping to survive so they can participate the following day. The following 4 days sees four days of intense cross-country riding, starting and finishing in Sibiu. As if the organizers know how it's going to end; the prize ceremony are held close to the hospital! Click here to read more about it (RoManiacs site)
