The Dutch trucker magazine and website, Truckstar , ran an on-line survey to find out what these road professionals thought of motorcycle riders. It is an interesting survey, since these are people who are on the road everyday, so their opinion does count. The question asked was "how do you as trucker experience the average Dutch motorcycle rider?".
17% of the 1280 truckers who answered said that bikers are serious drivers, who anticipate and avoid dangers. 36% of the surveyed truckers stated that the bikers are good to average drivers who occasionally make a mistake but on their own ride very well. 7% stated that they rarely see or notice bikers, therefore they are fine.
15% said as a group riding together, bikers are an irritation, but on their own they are good road users. This represents a good to very good note for 75% of the polled truckers.
Of the remaining "votes", 10% see bikers are a danger on the road, riding at ridiculous speeds and doing stunts on the road. 15% are irritated since bikers suddenly ride out of their blind spots and race through the lanes.
So overall, the view of truckers is very positive towards bikers. The relationship between bikers and truckers is very good, at least in The Netherlands.
