Back in 1986, Suzuki marvelled the world with a concept motorcycle creation during the Tokyo Motor Show. The revolutionary design stood out in a crowd. Named the Nuda, it had as basis the Suzuki GSX-R750 motorcycle.
Suzuki Nuda Concept Motorcycle | But the model remained just that, a concept model. Now, more than 25 years later, Phil Pauley has revisited this creation, and modernized it. The most interesting design change is that he added a canopy that hinges forward. The bike is now the Suzuki Crossbow Canopy Concept. The thought is interesting, but not practical. Putting a canopy over the motorcycle serves a few good purposes; streamlining and protecting the biker from the elements. It could also allow the rider to ride his motorcycle without a helmet. The canopy can be heated, and has a wiper. On the downside, you'll not be able to straighten your back during the ride. When you arrive at a stoplight, you'll be able to put your feet down with no problems, you'll just not be able to straighten your back unless you open the canopy. The canopy concept could have some use in motorcycle racing. It does make the bike more aerodynamic, but when racers need to slow down, they usually straighten their back, so maybe they could make a hydraulic system that pushes the canopy up, acting like a real aero-brake. As designs go, it's beautiful. It would look great in the latest Sci-Fi movie from Cameron. Click here to see many more photos of the Suzuki Crossbow Canopy
