Egbert Van Popta, a German national living in The Netherlands broke the world record of the fastest wheelie on a motorcycle in the UK. You'd think that to this he was riding a Hayabusa equipped with dual turbo chargers, or at the very least with a MT Y2K Turbine motorcycle, but all he had at his disposal was a 1989 Suzuki GSX-R1100 motorcycle, to which he fitted a turbo. But despite having an "old" motorcycle, he beat the record, doing a wheelie at 169.4 mph (272.6 kph), over a 1 kilometer distance. You can see the onboard camera in the video below. He came up to the flying start line already in fifth gear (all other competitors arrived in 3rd), and used the massive torque to his advantage, and was able to get to the top speed by having the switch gear only once; safer and faster. Just have a look at the video, and turn up the volume, the engine noise is impressive!
