A first in The Netherlands (and in a lot of other countries as well), German motorcycle manufacturer BMW have reached the number 1 spot of motorcycle sales during 2010. Not only did the Bavarian manufacturer sell the most motorcycles in the low country (1,992 to be precise), but they were also the only manufacturer to sell more bikes than the previous year (2009). Looking at the top motorcycle models sold during 2010, BMW not only has the top spot, they have the top 3 spots. Number 1 is the BMW R1200RT, followed by the R1200GS and then the R1200GS Adventure. The BMW S1000RR took the top spot for the best sold supersports above 750cc category. It's kind of strange if you think about it. 2010 was a financial crisis year, with a lot of people being hit financially. So if you're going to buy a new motorcycle, you'd expect people to buy low cost bikes. BMW are not known for cheap motorcycles. Quality does count, but does it count during a financial crisis? It looks like it does.
