In The Netherlands, aka Holland, more and more women are turning to riding a motorcycle. One third of all motorcycle licenses issued are for women, compared to 10 years ago, when women holding the precious piece of paper was about a quarter of all motorcycle licenses. Another interesting statistic is that currently there are about 650,000 motorcycles registered in The Netherlands, riding about 18.1 Billion kilometers per year. That is an enormous amount, considering that the combined public transportation system (buses, trams, metro and trains) does about 21.5 Billion kilometers per year. As many of you know, The Netherlands is flat, very flat. What's considered a mountain in Holland, others considered a bump in the road. Which is why there are so many bicycles. Compared to the number of motorcycles (650,000), there are 18 MILLION bicycles (there are only some 16 million inhabitants).
