What is probably a blow for the private company operating the speed camera in Dorset, the UK courts, after a four year battle, have decided that the Dorset Speed Camera Partnership has to refund 28,889 speed tickets. This because the speed limit had been illegally lowered on a road. They had requested to have the speed lowered to 30 mph on the A35 on Chideock, UK at "Seatown Road". But there's no Seatown Road.... so it was deemed illegal. Alan Dawe received a ticket for going the normal 40 mph on that part of the road. With help of a forum (Pepipoo ) they fought hard for four years, and finally won the case. In the mean time, the speed has been lowered officially in 2007. But all tickets before that date, are to be refunded, and penalty points reinstated (if the drivers want... yeah right). The partnership has until November 2009 to reimburse the "speeders". November ???? If you speed they get your money in days, so why have to wait months?? US$ 2.5 million is a lot of money to reimburse, but still... There's still some justice in the world after all...
