The UK's bikers are going naked this winter. Naked motorcycles that is, since the weather is a bit too cold to ride around on their motorcycles while wearing nothing but their birthday suits. Despite an astonishing drop in motorcycles sales in November, some 24.4% lower than last year, the only motorcycle category that increased its sales was the naked motorcycle category, increasing by 1% (October sales fell even more, by 27%). Big bikes sold the best during November, and really no surprise, Buell sold the best of all. But that's got to do with the fact that Harley has dropped the brand, and closed it down, so dealers were scrambling to get rid of their inventory, and were selling the motorcycles at high discounts. The Buell 1125CR and Buell 1125R were big sales hits, topping the over 1000 cc category.. The best selling motorcycle in November was the Yamaha YBR 125 with 156 new registrations for the model during the month. It's too bad that sales are still down. It's very tough for motorcycle manufacturers to survive in Europe at this moment. Governments aren't really jumping to their aid, like what they did for cars. 150,000 people are employed in the motorcycle industry here in Europe (source: ACEM ), and a bit of help could be used.
