One of the bigger motorcycle insurance underwriters (and world's sixth largest insurance company) in the UK, Aviva , has made it clear that it will not insure a motorcycle if the owner plans to ride with a pillion. It's plain and simple. Initially it was thought that the rule only applied to the high end insurance groups, like supersport bikes, but MCN's own staff have found out that it even includes an "innocent" 250 cc motorcycle. Most of the pillion rejections are based on the motorcycle model. And it's not only sportsbikes that fall in that category, some off-road motorcycle models do as well. So here's another blatant discrimination of bikers compared to car owners. They will never ask a car owner if she/he plans to have a passenger in their car. (Thanks for the tip Biker Ted)
