The police officer that was caught speeding on his (private) motorcycle at 149 mph and subsequently fired has been reinstated (read about it below in the Related Articles). The police department was told by a federal mediator that Christopher Thomas was not immoral for speeding, and that it was not grounds for being fired. So, reluctantly, he was re-hired, but I presume a desk job awaits him. The officer, trooper Bryan D. Lee, who stopped him, and did not give him a ticket (he only issued the ticket 8 days later after being forced by his supervisors), was given a one-day unpaid suspension. "All they fired him for was speeding," said Jim Gilbert, union president. "Based on an infraction that any common citizen could get, they fired him." The difference being that he is an officer of the law, and sworn to uphold the law, not do whatever he wants to. How can anyone take this cop serious?? Personally, I do think he should have been fired, at the very least.... but then some people are judged by double standards...
