It sounds a bit like the "old days" in Egypt, when the Pharaoh died, he got buried with his wives and servants. In this case it's Bill Standley who recently passed away at the age of 82 and got buried in a rather strange but interesting way.

Bill loved his 1967 Harley-Davidson motorcycle so much that he wanted to be buried with it. And so it was to be. He recently passed away, and his sons created a plexiglass casket big enough, based on a septic tank, to fit the motorcycle and Bill in it.

The local funeral home mounted Bill on the bike and it is on display in the garage of the funeral home for all to see. In order to bury him with the bike, they had to buy 3 burial plots at the cemetery.

Below is a photo of Bill in his "gasket". NOTE:  If you are reading this on the front page (index), for those who do not want to see "dead" people, it's hidden behind the "Continue reading ....". Click on the link below to see the actual photo of Bill Standley mounted on his Harley.

He was buried sitting on top of his prized possession.

How cool. The morticians should just be lucky that his prized possession was not a yacht.

Of course, it's not the first time people want to be associated to a motorcycle when they have expired (see related below), but this has to be one of the first that is buried on one. I pity the poor archeologist 1000 years from now....

Thursday, December 27th, 2012 - Dead Biker Rides His Motorcycle

Dead Man Riding Motorcycle
Creepy, and the problem is that it's not the first time that this has happened. A funeral parlor, on the biker's request, instead of putting the corpse in a casket for mourners to see, mounted the man on his favorite motorcycle. So the dead embalmed biker is sitting on his motorcycle in the funeral parlor. Creepy..?? Sounds more like a George A. Romero zombie movie in the make.

Like I said, it's not the first time, but I still find it creepy. On top of that the biker is not ATGATT, but then at this stage, does he really care? I can't find where this happened, and more important.... did they bury the motorcycle with him??
